Z-HOPE
As
the newest signature program of Zeta
Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Z-HOPE is an
interactive, holistic and multidimensional
outreach service initiative designed
to enhance, cultivate and empower participants
to develop health promoting lifestyle
choices across the lifespan. Learn more.
TDZ
was recognized by the Maryland State
Director for completing the 2nd highest
number of Z-HOPE projects in the state
of Maryland. The Chapter has completed:
Meeting
the Needs of the Spiritually Challenged
Food & Clothing Drive
in conjunction with Graduate Hills
and Springhill Lake Apartments. Items
were donated to Life Skills Workshop,
Inc. and Laurel Advocacy Resource
Services.
“The
Importance of Exercise” (Women-Body)
–
November 6, 2003
» The objectives of this program
were to disseminate information to
participants regarding the importance
exercise and to participate in a workout
program.
“Zeta
Prematurity Awareness Sunday”
–
November 16,
2003
» The National March of Dimes
Prematurity Campaign Week
» The objectives of this program
were that the participants would receive
information regarding babies being
born premature, have an increased
awareness of the causes of prematurity,
and receive information on the importance
of early prenatal care.
In collaboration with the March of
Dimes and local churches, TDZ spread
awareness about the issue of premature
birth. Over 1000 people received information
as a result of the Chapter's efforts.
“Zeta
Prematurity Awareness Sunday”

» The objectives of this program
were that the participants would receive
information regarding babies being
born premature, have an increased
awareness of the causes of prematurity,
and receive information on the importance
of early prenatal care.
In collaboration with the March of
Dimes and Tree of Life Ministries,
TDZ spread awareness about the issue
of premature birth. More than 400
people received information as a result
of the Chapter's efforts.

Challenged” –
Food Drive -

» The objectives of this program
were that the participants would have
an increased awareness of the empowering
effect of providing for the basic
needs of persons experiencing challenges
to their sense of self, provided the
opportunity to actively participate
in programs to provide for basic needs,
and receive information on how to
get assistanace in their community.
This project was completed in conjunction
with Graduate Hills and Springhill
Lake Apartments. Items were donated
to Life Skills Workshop, Inc. and

get assistance in their community.
“Give the Gift of Life Blood and Bone Marrow Drive
February 28, 2004
» The objectives of this program
were to increase participants awareness
of the immediate need for blood and
bone marrow in the minority community;
the frequency a person can donate,
the pros and cons of donating and
what to do after donating blood, be
provided the opportunity to actively
participate in programs focused on
needs, and resources available to
get assistance in their community.
TDZ was recognized by the American
Red Cross for exceeding the drive’s
initial goal and for adding potential
donors to the National Marrow Donor
Program Registry. The Chapter was
also recognized for its successful
Blood Drive.
“Walk
or Run For a Z-HOPE Cause” –
March of Dimes Walk America
April 25, 2004
» The objectives of this program
were for participants to have an increased
awareness of the empowering effect
of helping to raise funds for the
need in research for persons experiencing
challenges, provide an opportunity
to actively participate in programs
to provide funds for a Z-HOPE cause,
and receive information on how to
get assistance in their community.
TDZ raised over $5,200 for the Prince
George’s County March of Dimes
through it’s participation in
WalkAmerica.
