Laura Adibe is a Nigerian filmmaker born in Houston TX. During her junior year in high school, Laura was accepted into a prestigious summer screenwriting program at the University of Southern California. She went on to complete high school with honors and gain acceptance into one of the most prestigious film schools: New York University's Tisch School of the Arts Film and TV program. She earned her BFA in 2006. While in college, she received such honors as the Dean's List and a Fox TV/Benjamin L. Hooks Fellowship. She interned at such entertainment companies as New Line Cinema and HBO, where she had the opportunity to help edit promotional spots for the company and contribute creative ideas.
During her college career, she worked on independent and commercial film projects. She served as a casting assistant on artist Fabolous's video Baby and worked as a production assistant on R&B artist Mario's video How Could You. She directed a music video for a Brooklyn emcee named Skyzoo for "Way To Go", the first single off of the critically acclaimed LP by Skyzoo and 9th Wonder called Cloud 9: The 3 Day High, which continues to garner Internet buzz. Laura is currently pursuing a Masters in General Psychology and plans to pursue a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology afterwards. She formed Black Hand Media, LLC in late 2007 so that she could have a platform to write and produce quality material. High Star Films was formed in 2008 to solely focus on film and video work. Look for more work from her in the future.
