Since JETRO' s founding in 1958, its basic mission has been to support mutually beneficial trade and economic relations between Japan and nations worldwide.
The most obvious benefit of promoting imported goods and services in Japan is to help balance trade between Japan and other countries, but there are other benefits as well, both economic and social.
JETRO's core focus in the 21st century has shifted toward promoting foreign direct investment into Japan and helping US firms to maximize their global export potential.
